Every advertisement tells a complex story... We no longer live in a world where we send blanket general messages about products, instead advertisements are tailored to their unique markets. People are touched by images and statements that speak to their diverse cultures and environment, allowing multinational companies to exist in very different forms from New York, to Copenhagen, to Bombai.

Microsoft's "Googlighting"

Its amazing that companies can totally bash on each other like this and we see it as fair competition. Just goes to show how deeply we value survival of the fittest! But seriously this is a great humorous commercial by Microsoft as well as a good article by Mashable.

Mr. Zip- US Postal Mascot
When the Zipcode was introduced as a way to improve the efficiency of the USPS, a huge campaign was undertaken to help people adjust. At the time people were nervous about about locations being associated with numbers, believing that it might lead to some sort of impersonal numbers based futuristic society. Mr. Zip was the man to tackle those superstitions and bring in the postal system we know today.

No words are needed to make The Most Interesting Man in the World…Heineken takes a note from Dos Equis, but makes their ad “The Entrance” distinctly different and much more interesting for a television audience. Dos Equis is still much more translatable to radio and other audio venues, but the humor and interest that Heineken sparks has me hooked!

Love this! Hand puppets were always my fav!

Six simple prints. One campaign. One Grand Prix award at Cannes. This highly effective and creative advert sprung from the minds of those working at Saatchi & Saatchi Simko, the idea is simple and straight to the point, ” Give a hand to wildlife”, pointing out that there are many endangered species in the world that need our attention and help. The beautiful artwork which is the main focus of the advert was designed and painted by body painter Guchido Daniele, who has also worked on adverts for Nintendo, Muller and Breil Watches. The concept Saatchi & Saatchi decided to use isn’t new, but works on a level which is insightful and inspiring towards WWF’s campaign.

Krispy Kreme can’t be doing that well in this health obsessed society even though nearly five years ago it was the doughnut king that couldn’t be brought down. Last weekend at I drove by a two story Krispy Kreme at 9 am on a Saturday without a single person in the parking lot. I can only hope creative writing and advertising like this will spur the business on. I HATE donuts but I can’t help and feel a little sorry for a company that has fallen so far.
With all diets its important to acknowledge balance and even donuts can be a part of your balance if you try hard enough. Like this advertisement says a lot of things are bad, but some things are worse than a delicious Krispy Kreme. It reminds me of the first episode of Mad Men, of course cigarettes may be bad for you, but what else are they? Krispy Kreme is taking the stand first and saying they are something besides a heart attack in a box.

Advertising old school…In copenhagen I went to the famous Carlsberg brewery in Copenhagen this summer and was impressed with their old school trucks. I don’t have a good picture of the other neat trucks, but its clear that they were the advertising campaign of their day. Forget television ads and fancy billboards the trucks were what was seen on the streets and the majority of creativity was placed into making them extra spectacular amidst the other traffic that crowded the streets.
Though Carlsberg isn’t as popular in the U.S. it is a well known European brand and here is a classic Ad invoking historical Edmund Hillary. http://youtu.be/pgFfcML7O-w

OH Dakota Fanning…how old are you really?
Brits banned this ad simply because little Dakota looked younger than she really is and promoted a promiscuity that they didn’t like. Would it fly in the U.S.? I don’t think so we are all about looking younger than we really are!
